Here at Mobile Tyre Workshop

we’re experts in the prevention, repair and replacement of punctured tyres. Although each puncture can be a bit different, generally, there are standard rules of thumb when it comes to a repair. Throughout our operation, we’ve been asked many questions about punctured tyres. So for your convenience, we’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions to help you gain a deeper understanding of punctured tyres and their repairs. Additionally, if the damage has occurred within the central 60-70% of the tyre's nominal width and is a small hole of 6mm or less, it can usually be repaired without any issue.

When to Call on Our Team for Our Mobile Puncture Repair Services

Knowing how to identify leaks in your wheels is important knowledge that every driver should remember. To help you have a better experience on the road, we put together a few common signs you should look out for that indicate punctures and that you need our mobile tyre puncture repair:

  • You suddenly have trouble steering your car. It will feel as if the vehicle is pulling to a specific side on its own. As the wheel deflates, you’ll struggle to maintain alignment, which can cause the steering wheel to be unresponsive when you try to drive. If you notice this problem, our team can investigate for you. It could also be a wheel alignment problem, but luckily, we can fix that for you as well.
  • Your tyres seem to lose pressure faster than usual. While all tyres lose pressure over time, they should not lose pressure fast. If you find that you must head to the garage to inflate your tyres regularly, you most likely have a small puncture that is seeping air. This loss of air leads to a drop in tyre pressure, which is not safe on the road.
  • Your tyre seems to deflate overnight. If any of your tyres have deflated overnight, you have a puncture. These types of punctures are usually severe, and we do not recommend that you drive the car until a team fixes it for you. Driving with flat tyres is not only dangerous, but it can severely damage the entire wheel, which is much more costly to repair.

Frequent Questions Regarding Mobile Puncture Repairs and Tyre Damage

We receive many questions from our clients who either need or are considering our mobile flat tyre repairs. We recognise that many of our clients might have the same questions, so we have put together a brief list to provide upfront answers:

  • Can I keep driving with a small puncture and just inflate my tyres regularly instead of fixing them? While many might tell you this is fine, we advise against it. We think this is a bad idea because punctures can get bigger, and the constant change in tyre pressure is not good for your wheel alignment. We highly recommend you always get punctures fixed without delay, and if you cannot, that you change the tyre.
  • How can I avoid getting punctures in the future? While tyre manufacturers try to keep tyres robust and damage resistant, there is only so much they can do to prevent punctures without changing the entire design of the tyre. Avoiding areas with high-risk objects such as construction yards or off-road trails without the proper off-road tyre setup will help you avoid punctures. Unfortunately, there is no fool-proof way to avoid getting punctures.
  • I had a puncture fixed, but my car still veers to one side when I drive. What now? If you notice that your vehicle pulls to a specific side while driving and your tyres are not flat, you have an alignment problem. Our team can come out to your home and find the source of the problem – whether in your wheel alignment or steering wheel. This problem can occur for many reasons, and driving with flat tyres is one.

Commonly asked questions about punctured tyres

  • Can you drive with a punctured tyre?

We don’t recommend this, as driving with a flat can damage the entire wheel and make for costly repairs.

  • What causes a punctured tyre?

Most commonly, punctures occur from running over sharp objects like screws, nails, and glass.

  • Do I have to replace the whole wheel if my tyre is punctured?

Not necessarily. If you notice the puncture early and do not drive with the flat, likely, you’ll just need to change the tyre and not have to replace the whole wheel.

  • How do I identify a puncture in my tyre?

You might not notice it straight away, but there are some telltale signs you can look out for to help you identify a puncture:

    • Wheels shuddering
    • Car pulls in a specific direction
    • Difficulties with steering
    • When driving you might hear a ding with each rotation
  • Can you repair a punctured tyre?

A technician can likely repair the puncture as long as the damage is only to the tread and is confined to 6mm or smaller.

  • How do you prevent punctures?

    • Avoid extreme areas of the road such as dirt and sand when you can
    • Check your tyres regularly
    • Avoid driving into construction areas
    • Be mindful of where you park your vehicle (check the area for sharps if possible)
    • Check your tyres’ birthday and have them replaced as they near the end of their life.

What Our Customers Say

  • “I always prefer to support small businesses and I wasn’t disappointed with this one. Christian looked after us with a puncture repair on my wife’s Golf and it couldn’t have been more convenient than having him come to our house while I’m with my six month old daughter.”

  • “Highly recommend!! Great service, very affordable compared to other mobile services. Came to me when I had a flat tyre & replaced a second tyre at the same time. Very flexible in working around my restrictive apartment car park/busy on street parking in the city.”
